A baby’s foot has no fully formed bones at all – the shape of the foot is mapped out in soft and pliable bone, similar to cartilage. It is surrounded by a layer of ‘puppy fat’ making the foot feel soft. However, baby’s feet are prone to bending out of shape, without your child actually feeling
any pain.
Once a baby has learnt to sit up on their own they will quickly learn to pull themselves along – soon after, they learn to crawl and your day becomes much busier. Believe it or not, a baby can crawl 400 metres in the time it takes to make a cup of tea!
Even at this early stage there are times when their feet should have the correct protection. At Future Feet we have a range of shoes designed technically for the child at the crawling stage of development.
